Tiny11 on iphones is possible!
For starters it takes around 20 minutes for Windows to even boot up. Once it does, however, Microsoft’s OS actually looks surprisingly usable on the iPhone 15 Pro’s 6.1-inch OLED display.
It’s worth noting that Windows 11 is not running natively. It’s running inside UTM SE, a virtualization app that can be sideloaded on Apple devices (or installed from an alternative app store if jailbroken) running iOS 11 or later.
How is it even possible to do this? It has a lot to do with the previous work NTDEV did in stripping down Windows 11 to the bare essentials.
What’s different? The tiny11 ISO size was reduced from more than 6 gigabytes to just under 3. Stripping things down allows the OS to run on just 384MB of RAM — instead of Microsoft’s required minimum of 4GB.
Here’s another mind-lowing thing NTDEV has managed to do with tiny11: getting Windows 11 installed within the VRAM on the GPU of a laptop. That’s probably not a scenario that Microsoft’s development team ever envisioned.
